The Last of Us Season 3 Release Date, Cast, and Plot Details
Everything we know about The Last of Us Season 3, including release date predictions, cast updates, and storyline adaptations.

HBO's critically acclaimed series, The Last of Us, has left fans on the edge of their seats after the explosive Season 2 finale. With the show renewed for Season 3, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming chapter.

Season 2 premiered in April 2025, following a 28-month gap after Season 1. If production follows a similar timeline, Season 3 could arrive as late as August 2027. However, delays in scripting and filming may push this further, with some reports suggesting early 2027 as a more realistic target.

Season 3 will shift focus to Abby’s perspective, mirroring the structure of The Last of Us Part II game. The story will revisit Seattle Day One, exploring events concurrent with Ellie’s journey in Season 2. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have confirmed that the narrative will delve deeper into the conflict between the WLF and Seraphites, offering answers to lingering questions.

Bella Ramsey will return as Ellie, though in a reduced role, while Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby takes center stage. Isabela Merced (Dina), Gabriel Luna (Tommy), and Jeffrey Wright (Isaac) are also expected to reprise their roles. Pedro Pascal may appear in flashbacks, though his involvement remains unconfirmed.

Filming is rumored to begin in 2026, with scripts still in development as of May 2025. The season is expected to be longer than Season 2, potentially spanning more than seven episodes. Mazin has hinted that the story may require a fourth season to fully conclude.
